Double Miracle~ {Richmond, Louisa, Orange, Charlottesville VA Birth Photographer}

Remember this couple?

Well, I have some exciting news to share! They are the proud parents of twins:)

Justin and Belinda have been very honest about the infertility issues they have faced and so it has been a blessing to witness their dream of having children become a reality. Not only did I shoot their maternity photos, but I am going to give their newborn session a try! And as you will see, I decided to attempt birth photography when Belinda was looking for someone to capture their birthday:)

I was hesitant at first, since this was a new experience for me. Of course I have had 4 babies myself, but this was different. When we discussed the details, Belinda and Justin just didn’t want to worry about taking pictures…having waited so long for this day, they wanted to enjoy each and every second!

All of the weeks of waiting for my phone to ring turned into an induced labor, which went very SLOWLY…and finally after 25+ hours, their babies came into the world. Since they were having twins, her delivery had to be in the operating room. They had to get special permission for me to be in there, and while I don’t feel I was able to get as many pictures as I could because of the chaos and number of people in there, I hope what I did capture will make them happy.

So enjoy this glimpse into the birth of Elianna and John Paul…aka Baby A and Baby B:)

*Thank you Justin and Belinda for the opportunity to witness the birth of your dreams coming true. I had to wipe away my tears as that first baby cry was heard in the room. There is nothing like witnessing a miracle…and Belinda you are Super Woman in my book! I feel a special connection with all of you now and can’t wait to see them both grow up!

Double Blessing|Charlottesville, Virginia Maternity Photographer

I love being a Charlottesville maternity photographer! I met Belinda last year. ¬†She had just started her photography business and so we had a lot in common. ¬†She also wanted to ask me about our adoption experience with Maggie. You see, she and her husband Justin have been trying to have children for many years and they were researching their options. Well, adoption is still not out of the picture, but as you can see, they are getting ready to finally complete their dream of having children with not one, but two babies!! I couldn’t be happier for them:) I can’t leave out the fact that their son Herson, who they have been fostering for a few years is also excited to finally be a big brother!

And not only am I doing their newborn session, but they have asked me to capture the birth too….wow!! I feel blessed that they would entrust all of these special moments to me~

I went to Belinda’s facebook page and saw that she had posted these words on an infertility page to inspire other couples dealing with the same struggles as they have faced. She has given me permission to share it here because I am hoping it will touch someone else~

“Up until today I always had a hard time putting it into words, as I can promise you that we had our dark days. We had our moments when everything seemed to be slipping out of control and we couldn’t see the light at the end of any tunnel. BUT today while on our way to our birthing class I heard a song that spoke to me and this version has stuck with me …

I don’t wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I’m here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you’re still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn’t break, we didn’t burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I’ve got, and what I’m not
And who I am

I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up
Still looking up.

Ladies don’t give up! Don’t give up on who you are! Don’t give up on the reasons why you married that man (or your loved one that walks this journey with you)! Don’t give up HOPE! There is always HOPE and it shines through after lots of tears and love!

Here we are at 30 wks and 4 days, pregnant and expecting twins. We are proof that miracles that do happen!”

Finally~ {Louisa, Virginia Family and Child Photographer}

Laura and I have been talking about this session for a year or two it seems.  Getting all of these boys and their schedules to line up to be home on one night is no small feat.  And with 4 boys myself, I totally understand!

As expected, I had some reluctant men on my hands.  They slowly loosened up and I think I made them feel comfortable enough so I could capture some beautiful images for Mom.  And their cousins joined in at the end for some pics for Grandma:)

Laura, I hope you are as happy as I am with these pictures~

Second go around:) {Lake Anna, Virginia Family Photographer}

Since I did a session last July for this wonderful family, I was thrilled to be called by them again. Their session happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the year, but they were all troopers and we got these pics done in no time:) ¬†And don’t you all just love their colors?

Thanks again guys and I hope to see you next year as there will be another little to add to the group!

i know they are loving these shots-

Nothing sweeter~ {Louisa, Charlottesville, Richmond, VA family photographer}

I love families:) ¬†Although family sessions can sometimes be challenging depending on the mood of the children (and sometimes the husband…), I love to see what I have captured. ¬†Because with each family what I capture is different, there are unique personalities and special interactions that only that family shares.

Rachel and her family were no exception, you will see for yourself how precious and sweet this little family is. ¬†And the girls, well, they brightened my day for sure! ¬†Nothing sweeter…

Lisa King - These are really gorgeous pictures, I think some of your best! You have such talent.

A Miracle~ {Louisa, VA Family Photographer}

I will never forget the call from my friend Michelle…”Denise, Chelsea has been in a car accident, please pray…” ¬†The next hours were filled with worry, fear and ¬†a lot of prayer…but praise God, Chelsea was alive. ¬†To me that was the best news ever. ¬†She had broken her pelvis and had some other minor injuries, but she was here. Fast forward to the present and a lot of tears, tough moments and answered prayers later, this family will never be the same. ¬†Chelsea had to be bed ridden for months, and must learn to walk all over again. ¬†I think the whole family will admit that their faith was tested, but that God showed up in a BIG way~

This session was supposed to take place two other times, but I think that He wanted to show himself through these pictures and remind this family of how much they have to be thankful for:)

I am blessed to be friends with such an inspiring, faithful family and I can’t wait to continue to watch God work in their lives. ¬†I am so glad that Chelsea is here and that she will soon be walking…maybe even running:) ¬†I am looking forward to taking her senior pictures in a few months and I believe that no one will need to hold her up then!

Warlick Family, I love all of you and it was a pleasure to be able to capture these memories for you!  Like I said, find yourself a blank wall and cover it with these pictures that to me have LOVE written all over them:)

And the winner is~ {Louisa, VA Family and Child Photographer}

This past winter, I asked for people to nominate families that would be deserving of a free session. ¬†I received about 10 letters and asked an impartial friend to choose the winner. ¬†This is just part of the letter I received about this amazing family…

“I would like to nominate April Harper Covington for the free photo session.¬† I first met April back around 2005.¬† She had just graduated from Louisa County High School and began working at Jouett as an instructional assistant in my kindergarten classroom.¬†¬† She is a hard working and amazing individual.¬† She is still an instructional assistant at Jouett.¬†¬†April is married and has 2 children.¬† Beau is 4 and Sadie is 1.¬† When pregnant with Sadie, April found out that she would be born with Spina Bifida.¬† This would be devastating to anyone having a child but April was and is determined to make the best of it.¬† She works hard at school and at home with Sadie.¬† Sadie has physical therapy and speech therapy and after a long day at work April works with her each night. ¬†¬† One thing you never hear from April is complaining.¬† She is always happy and upbeat and is a joy to be around.¬† I am honored to be her friend! ¬†April loves pictures and is constantly taking them.¬† I think she would be honored by this wonderful gift and would take great pride in the pictures you take.¬† April is a wonderful mother, teacher, and friend and deserves this opportunity more than anyone I know. “

April, it was my pleasure to capture these moments in time for you!
